- Hospitals in Cameroon's cities lack proper medical equipment, trained specialists, and often have poor sanitation. Hospitals in rural regions of Cameroon are scarce, if not nonexistent. Therefore problems which could be easily treated such as breach births often have catastrophic results.

- Malaria runs rampant, accounting for 40% of all deaths among children under the age of five.
